Steve Padin is a retired, decorated police veteran with 25 years of Buffalo, N.Y. law enforcement expertise. He provides expert firearms, tactics, and security logistics instruction to congregations participating in Defensor, Inc's Safest Worship active killer preparedness program. The Safest Worship curriculum, created specifically for worship centers by military and police veterans, intensively trains congregations on the six active killer preparedness measures to keep their facilities safe and secure.

After 20 years working “the streets,” Padin's last assignment was in the firearms division where he not only trained Buffalo’s officers in the use of firearms and combat tactics, but also assisted with the training of officers throughout the county at the central police academy. Upon retiring, Padin became the lead firearms instructor for that same law enforcement training academy, where he oversees firearms training for police recruits at department across the county. Padin also trains and certifies each police department’s new firearms instructors.

Padin leads The Watchman's Academy - a church security training and consulting service.

A former black belt instructor and international competitor in Tae Kwon-Do, he was a tactics instructor to the Buffalo Public School’s security staff. Padin is trained and certified as an instructor to instructors by the Department of Homeland Security and Louisiana State University’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training Academy of Counter-Terrorism in Law Enforcement Active Shooter Response.

Padin trains police and military personnel in different countries. Recently, Guru Maul Mornie, himself a world-renowned trainer of police, military units, and elite martial artists, added Padin to a list of “world class” tactics instructors.
