Patrick Canna is Defensor, Inc.'s President and a 10 year veteran of local law enforcement. During his time as a certified law enforcement professional, he has perfected his defensive tactics, use of deadly force, and penal law knowledge and skills. Canna has encountered and decisively overcome situations involving armed suspects, home invasion, and physical assault.
Canna began his career as a corrections officer. This allowed him to build significant and highly valuable experience studying criminal psychology and tactics. From inside prison walls, he learned telltale patterns of criminal aggressor behavior that have made him a more effective law enforcement officer and pistol permit and concealed carry course instructor.
Canna is a passionate student of both the second amendment and CCW law at the local, state, and federal levels. He is an authority on the concealed carry permit process, national concealed carry permit reciprocity, and Article 35 of the New York State penal law, which defines legally justifiable use of lethal force.

Canna holds extensive law enforcement tactics and firearms instruction credentials. He is certified as a firearms and general topics instructor by the New York State Municipal Police Training Council. He is a graduate of the New York State Preparedness Training Center’s ‘Initial Response to Active Shooters’ course. He holds a certificate in the identification and survival of hidden weapons from the Southeastern Public Safety Institute at St. Petersburg College.
Canna has twice been recognized by local law enforcement agencies for his meritorious service and outstanding contributions to the police profession. He is certified as an armorer to completely disassemble, inspect, service, and re-assemble Glock firearms without voiding the factory warranty.
